Spectrum's Info-Link module is a powerful tool that allows you to access all your Spectrum data using familiar programs such as Microsoft® Excel, Access, and Word, and Seagate Crystal Reports™. With Info-Link, you can utilize your Spectrum data to create reports, queries, spreadsheets, and graphs using any application which supports the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard. ODBC is a common programming interface which allows various Windows programs to work with various databases.
Suppose you want to build a spreadsheet and graph showing expected cost overruns by phase on one or more jobs. You want to sort the phases starting with the highest phase over budget down to the lowest. One option would be to print a report showing the projected cost variances and manually sort them to find those most over budget. Another option would be to manually enter all the data into a spreadsheet and use that to create a graph. Or, using Info-Link, you could quickly pull your specific Spectrum data into a spreadsheet program-with no data entry required. Then sort it and graph it just the way you want.
Perhaps best of all, by saving your spreadsheet you can use it again. Simply execute the "Refresh Data" command and the links to Spectrum will pull in the most current information.
