Legend's Mechanical Joins Growing Roster of Dexter + Chaney Customers

Chooses Spectrum Construction Software for its service capabilities, flexibility

SEATTLE, Dec. 20, 2011: Add Legend’s Mechanical (www.legendsmech.com) of Baton Rouge, La., to the growing roster of customers of Dexter + Chaney (www.dexterchaney.com) and its Spectrum® Construction Software.

“We’re mostly service-related—that’s our forte,” explained David Legendre, Legend’s Mechanical president. “Spectrum’s Service Contract and Work Order modules work very well for us. Spectrum is very user-friendly and very flexible—which is just what we need. It’s also important for job cost; we can easily look at profitability reports, especially in Work Order.”

Legend’s also is banking on Spectrum for new-construction work. “Spectrum serves a dual purpose for us—new construction, as well as service,” Legendre explained. “We’re a mechanical subcontractor on a brand-new library, for example, and thus we need Spectrum’s capabilities for new-construction and job cost.”

The company has purchased 10 Spectrum modules, including its popular Document Imaging capability that Legend’s Mechanical will employ to help the company eventually go paperless. Launched in 1999, Spectrum Document Imaging is the construction-industry pioneer and leader in document imaging, with more than 10,000 individual users at construction companies throughout the United States.

Legendre expects Spectrum and Dexter + Chaney to assist Legend’s Mechanical with its growth goals. Legend’s was purchased in early 2011 by the Gallo Group, based in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie; in early 2012, the Gallo Group’s existing service division—GMC Services, LLC—will become part of Legend’s Mechanical. During Legend’s Mechanical’s research into construction software, Legendre and his staff considered GMC Services’ existing software package but ultimately chose Spectrum.

“Our office manager, Joanie Hebert, and I were familiar with Spectrum—how it worked and the things we could grow with,” Legendre recalled. “We tried to keep an open mind when we considered the other software package, but Spectrum is in a different class—it became the obvious choice. We can grow with Spectrum, and we’re looking forward to using it for many years to come.”
