SEATTLE, August 31, 2016: Twenty two years ago, when Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. began as a small soft demolition company in the Los Angeles metro area, there were only five employees in the office, and they all wore many different hats to keep business growing. And grow it did.
Today, the company has 285 employees and expects to generate more than $30 million in revenue this year. In order to effectively and efficiently manage this growth, Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. recently acquired Spectrum® Construction Software from Dexter + Chaney, the leader in cloud-based construction ERP software.
Interior Removal Specialist Inc. Controller Byron Pinto, said the company had a need to streamline its processes and consolidate data from its many business entities in one system. Its previous software package, American Contractor, has worked during the company’s growth, but lacked functionality once the company’s business grew to a point where managing data became a daily challenge. Pinto said.
“We started looking for software that could help us consolidate and streamline data in the field so our foremen could collect data there and send it directly to the office and to the managers, to accounting, to everyone that needs to see it,” Pinto said. “Everything was being done manually and we had spreadsheets all over the place.”
In reviewing Spectrum, Pinto said it had a lot of features that other software packages didn’t have. Of primary interest, was Spectrum’s Workflow functionality, he said.
“With the other software packages we didn’t see a dedicated workflow feature. We wanted to go with the software that is going to contain all of the information we have in one place, and we want to make sure that we’re going to allow specific people, specific tasks so they can complete whatever they need to do, but along the way want to make sure they double-check and triple-check anything that they need to do,” Pinto said. “That was probably the key selling point with Spectrum.”
While soft demolition is still the company’s primary form of business today, IRSdemo is best known for its effort to recycle construction and demolition (C&D) materials from every single project it does. The company has added a state-of-the-art C&D recycling facility and leads recycling education programs to ensure that only materials that absolutely cannot be recycled are sent to landfills. IRSdemo donates recovered materials such as furniture and other useful items to non-profit local organizations while at the same time diverting them from the landfills.
“We has definitely grown our operations over the years,” Pinto said. “Spectrum will help us better manage that growth.”
Dexter + Chaney President and CEO Norbert Orth said he was pleased that Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. trusted its business with Spectrum. “This is a company that shows what drive and ambition can do. We’re happy to work alongside Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. and streamline their operations as they continue to grow and succeed.”
