SEATTLE, April 14, 2015: Dexter + Chaney (, providers of Spectrum® Construction Software, is pleased to announce a partnership agreement with Pensacola, Fla.-based Coast Software to resell Spectrum in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and northern Florida. Coast has been in business in those markets for more than 30 years and developed strong relationships with the construction organizations and communities the company serves.

Coast Software Principal Owner Ron Smith and his team bring a wealth of experience to Dexter + Chaney. Smith spent nearly 15 years representing Geac (Software Shop Construction Manager) and more recently, 15 years representing the Sage (Timberline) product line. Smith said he was excited for the opportunity to work with Dexter + Chaney.

“Having competed against Dexter + Chaney throughout the years, I have found them to be not only a high-quality competitor in the marketplace, but also a company with great integrity and dedication to their client base,” Smith said. “It was one of the key reasons I was attracted to the opportunity to work directly with them.”

Smith added he was particularly attracted to representing the breadth of Dexter + Chaney’s in-house developed product line, featuring Spectrum’s cloud-based construction software and the array of mobile construction apps. By staying ahead of the technology curve, Smith said Dexter + Chaney can offer the complete software solution that many companies are looking for.

“The Gulf Coast market is rich in industrial construction, and oil and petroleum business. We feel like the product that Dexter + Chaney brings to the table is an excellent fit for that. One of the challenges in the southern market has been finding truly integrated construction software for all of an organization’s business needs. It speaks volumes that a company like Dexter + Chaney can provide native integration with its products versus the add-on-applications and third-party products that other software companies often have to utilize to provide clients with a complete solution.”

John Chaney, co-founder and CEO of Dexter + Chaney, said Coast Software’s expertise in the Gulf Coast markets will be a significant benefit in building future relationships in the region. “We are very excited to welcome Ron and Coast Software into the Dexter + Chaney family,” Chaney said. “They have proven over the years that they are very knowledgeable about construction software and the needs of clients and prospective clients. Coast has a solid team and a large amount of dedicated resources to hit the ground running with Spectrum.”

Smith is also very involved with a number of trade associations in the Gulf Coast market, including local chapters of the Association of General Contractors. He has also been instrumental in helping to put together a local, Gulf Coast chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association.
