Construction Software Integrates Project, Accounting Functions
Company: C. Erickson & Sons Inc., Philadelphia, Pa., USA
Challenge: Successfully handle the increase in the volume and complexity of information involved in construction management
Project: Replace the existing software system and expand customer service offerings
Solution:Â Spectrumâ„¢ Construction Management Software from Dexter + Chaney, Seattle, Wash., USA
ROI: Spectrum was installed, up and running in three weeks; it took the company three to six months to accomplish this with previous software implementations.
C. Erickson & Sons Inc. found its existing software solutions antiquated in the 21st century construction marketplace. As part of its 10-year growth and business continuity plan, company executives felt the need to upgrade the software. After an in-depth review of 81 construction software vendors, the company chose Spectrum.
"We wanted to be certain that the software vendor would continue to spend money to develop its product as we grew; the product has to work for us not only today but also for 10 or more years into the future," C. Erickson Controller Mike Castagno says.
The fully integrated software combines project management, accounting, equipment control, job cost and payroll functions across 11 modules on one unified platform. This fact was not lost on Mr. Castagno, who says the company had spent more than three years trying to integrate its previous suite of products.
"Spectrum is very user-friendly; I can manipulate menus for individual project managers to direct them exactly where they need to go in the system," Mr. Castagno says. "They can pull it up on their desktop and immediately do what they need to do in Spectrum. That frees them to devote more time to what's most important: providing an excellent level of service to our customers." He also notes the software's imaging capability and executive overview inquiry screen as important features that keep C. Erickson competitive.
