About Dexter + Chaney/Viewpoint
Founded in 1981, Seattle-based Dexter + Chaney, LLC. supplied the construction industry with construction software for business and operations for more than 35 years. In July 2017, the company was acquired by Portland, Ore.-based Viewpoint.
After working on a large maritime construction project involving pricing change orders and markups at Arthur Andersen (now Accenture), Dexter + Chaney founders Mark Dexter and John Chaney felt there had to be an alternative to the manual processes they were using. From the spare bedroom of Dexter's apartment, they began using new database technologies to create a custom solution for the construction industry. Over the years, that solution developed into Forefront Construction Software and later Spectrum® Construction Software.
By the time Viewpoint acquired Dexter + Chaney in 2017, thousands of clients were using Spectrum to manage all aspects of their businesses from accounting to project management to service management, to equipment management, to document control, human resources and payroll, inventory, materials management, and much more. Throughout its history, Spectrum has delivered its clients with the latest leading-edge technology.
Now part of the Viewpoint family, Spectrum continues to be an agile construction software platform, continually being updated with the latest technologies. It is a vital part of Viewpoint’s Office-Team-Field suite of software solutions and mobile applications for contractors today. These integrated products connect and empower the entire construction organization with powerful software solutions for the office, collaborative tools to share data across all project teams, and mobile solutions for accessing and capturing data in the field.
